City advises of water supply disruption in Atlantis Industria, Witsands and surrounding farm areas
23 September 2022
The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be conducting emergency repairs on its 700mm diameter water pipeline along Dassenberg Road in the Atlantis area from 12:00 on Saturday 24 September 2022 until 18:00 on Sunday, 25 September 2022. This will necessitate shutting off the water supply in this pipeline to enable the maintenance team to do the repairs safely. This will result in the disruption of the water supply to these areas.
This water supply main to the Atlantis Industria, Witsands and surrounding farm areas has developed a serious leak along Dassenberg Road and will be repaired by the Water and Sanitation maintenance team as from 12:00 tomorrow, 24 September 2022. The repairs involves excavating and draining the area and a section of the pipeline as well as replacing the damaged section of the pipe before the water flow can be restored.
The Water and Sanitation maintenance team will be working throughout the night to complete the repairs which is anticipated to be done by 18:00 on Sunday evening, 25 September 2022. They will also be rerouting water supply to the areas in the network which are impacted by the supply, this will result in lower water pressure in these areas.
Consumers in these areas are however kindly requested to reduce their consumption while the repair is in progress to ensure sustained water supply and pressure across the network.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, however it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure for the benefit of its consumers.
